DW Akademie is Deutsche Welle's centre for international media development, journalism training and knowledge transfer. Our projects strengthen the human right to freedom of expression and unhindered access to information. DW Akademie empowers people worldwide to make independent decisions based on reliable facts and constructive dialogue.

DW Akademie is a strategic partner of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). We also receive funding from the Federal Foreign Office and the European Union and are active in approximately 50 developing countries and emerging economies.

Since 2014 DW Akademie and its partners support media development and free journalism in Ukraine. These activities are funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Union and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.

To strengthen our Ukrainian team, we are looking for a Project Coordinator (20 days per month on a freelance basis in Ukraine) to start as soon as possible.

Your responsibilities: You will support our media development projects in Ukraine and report to the Program Director Ukraine. 

Your responsibilities include:

• Providing support for the developing and implementation of the project, working in a project team and with local partners

• Planning and organising DW Akademie’s project activities (incl. trainings, public and visibility events)

• Monitoring the project progress including the identification of risks, quality control, documentation and evaluation of implemented activities

• Supporting financial grant management in the project
• Delivering progress reports as required
• Occasional business trips to project locations in Ukraine and to Germany

Your profile: You are a goal-oriented team player, who likes to work in a culturally diverse dynamic environment. 

Your qualifications include:

• Minimum a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in social sciences, communication or another relevant field of study;

• In-depth knowledge of the Ukrainian media landscape;
• At least one year of work experience in project management;
• Professional experience in the field of freedom of expression, media development and/or journalism is highly desirable;

• Native or near-native Ukrainian and Russian;
• Good command of spoken and written English and/or German;
• User command of the MS Office package (Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook).
